# Quick Start Guide

Get up and running with Night Owl Protect in just a few minutes.

## Step 1: Create an Account

1. Open Night Owl Protect app
2. Tap **Create Account**
3. Enter your email address
4. Create a strong password (minimum 8 characters)
5. Verify your email

Use a password manager to generate and store a secure password.

## Step 2: Enable 2-Step Verification

For enhanced security, we strongly recommend enabling 2-Step Verification:

1. Go to **Settings** → **Security**
2. Tap **Enable 2-Step Verification**
3. Choose your verification method:
   - **SMS** - Receive codes via text message
   - **Authenticator App** - Use Google Authenticator or similar
   - **Email** - Receive codes via email
4. Complete the setup process

Save your backup codes in a secure location. You'll need them if you lose access to your verification method.

## Step 3: Add Your First Device

### Option A: Scan QR Code (Recommended)

1. Tap the **+** button on the home screen
2. Select **Scan QR Code**
3. Point your camera at the QR code on your Night Owl device
4. Wait for the connection to establish
5. Name your device and assign it to a location

### Option B: Manual Setup

1. Tap the **+** button
2. Select **Manual Setup**
3. Enter the Device ID (found on the device label)
4. Enter the device password (default or your custom password)
5. Configure connection settings

## Step 4: Configure Basic Settings

After adding your device, configure these essential settings:

### Video Quality
- Go to device settings
- Select **Video Quality**
- Choose based on your internet speed:
  - **Auto** (Recommended)
  - **High (1080p)** - 5+ Mbps
  - **Medium (720p)** - 2-5 Mbps
  - **Low (480p)** - Under 2 Mbps

### Notification Preferences
- Enable/disable motion alerts
- Set quiet hours
- Choose notification sounds

## Step 5: Live View

You're all set! Tap on any camera to view the live feed:

- **Pinch to zoom** - Zoom in/out on the video
- **Tap and hold** - Access quick actions
- **Swipe left/right** - Switch between cameras
- **Double tap** - Toggle fullscreen
